Ingredients:

For the Meat Sauce:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) Tomato Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp All Purpose Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 small sweet pepper

For the Cheese Sauce:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup milk/heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Layers:

  • Lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
  • Additional shredded mozzarella for topping

Directions:

    • Add chopped onion, sweet pepper and garlic (I chopped mine in a food processor); sauté until fragrant.
    • Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, garlic powder, all-purpose seasoning, brown sugar, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
    • Simmer for 20-30 minutes, allowing the flavors to incorporate.
    • In a saucepan, add the milk/heavy cream to heat and then add the cheese to melt. Stir until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce will begin to thicken. Add a dash of salt and Black pepper to taste. Set aside.
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (190°C).
    • In a baking dish, start with a layer of meat sauce, followed by lasagna noodles, and a generous drizzle of cheese sauce.
    • Repeat the layers, finishing with a topping of shredded mozzarella.

    • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
    • Uncover and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
    • Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Bonus Tip:

Feel free to add sautéed mushrooms, spinach, or any veggies of your choice to amp up the flavor and nutrition!
