Herb Cornish Hen


Cornish Hens that are perfectly roasted, infused with aromatic herbs and crisped to golden perfection, makes for an impressive yet effortless meal. Whether you're hosting a special dinner or enjoying a cozy night in, this herb-baked dish brings warmth and flavor to the table every time.

Ingredients:

 

2 Cornish Hens, cleaned

 

For the Cornish Hens:

 

2 tsp Garlic Powder

1 1/2 tsp Black pepper

2 tsp Dried Onion Flakes

2 tsp Paprika

2 tsp All Purpose Seasoning

2 tsp Italian Herb Seasoning

4 sprigs Thyme (remove the leaves from the stem and discard the stem)

1 sprig Rosemary (remove the leaves from the stem and discard the stem)

1/4 cup Oil

Salt

3 Garlic cloves crushed

 

Glaze:

 

1/2 cup low sodium Soy Sauce

Honey

1 tsp ground Ginger

 

Directions:

 

In a bowl combine all ingredients listed under “For the Cornish hens”.

Pat the Cornish Hens dry of any excess water.

Pour the mixture all over the Cornish hens and season properly ensuring that you get under the skin. You can leave the Cornish hens whole or you can cut them in half (as pictured), its up to you! Cutting them in half may shorten the cooking time. Allow them to marinate for 4 hours -overnight.

 


Preheat your oven to 370 degrees F. Place the Cornish hens in a baking dish uncovered and place in the oven to bake for 50 mins.


Ensure that you baste them the juices released every 25 mins or so to keep them nice and juicy.

 

Combine all ingredients in a bowl listed under “Glaze”. Add as much honey as you’d like. I used a 1/4 cup.

 

Pour the glaze over the Cornish hens at the end of their 50 mins cooking time or you can use a brush to apply.


Set your oven to broil and place them back into the oven for an additional 10 mins to get some color or until their internal temperature hits 165 degrees F once a food thermometer has been inserted. Keep in mind that cooking time may vary depending on the size of your Cornish Hens!

 Remove from the oven and serve and enjoy with your favorite sides!
