Herb Preservation (Freezing method)

by: Londoncookss

What you need:

Your favorite fresh herbs (Thyme, Rosemary, Sage, Etc.)

Olive Oil

Ice Cube tray

Directions:

Wash Herbs using a strainer to prevent them from spilling all over the place and to keep them organized. This is important to remove any excess dirt.

Pat herbs dry to get out most of the water as possible.

Using a kitchen shear cut them into your desired sizes, but small enough to fit into the ice cube tray slots.

Fill each Ice cube tray slot at least 3/4 with your herbs and then top with olive oil. I recommend using oil oil, preferably extra virgin olive oil as it is great for preserving herbs but you can use your favorite oils also. I used a silicone Ice cube tray, as pictured, which made it easier to pop out my frozen herbs once they were set.

Place in your freezer for about 3 hours or until they are frozen. Remove each cube of herb from the tray and store in a ziplock bag in your freezer. You may want to move quick while taking them out as they will start melting very quickly.

*Note: You can make your favorite herb combos such as a roast mix, veggie mix, etc. Be creative!
